When my mother lived with me during her final year and we spent the time researching and reliving her family history, I turned the love I already had for reading and writing and began dabbling with historical writing. A few years ago, I wrote a novella, which was published alongside other authors' works, and my passion grew from there.
In addition to my new found love of writing historical novels, I love being surrounded by my friends and family, especially my ever growing brood of grandchildren, whom I adore. I enjoy a good cup of coffee, football, travel, and of course, a good historical romance novel.
Marilyn Stewart is an award-winning feature writer who has written for newspapers and varied print and online publications for more than twenty years. For eight years, Marilyn wrote a column in New Orleans' Times-Picayune newspaper highlighting the faith community of New Orleans. As Senior Editor for New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, she edited the seminary's magazine, Vision, with a circulation of about 25,000.
The Defend Your Faith Bible, a children's apologetics Bible published by Holman Bible Publishers, 2019, included an introduction she wrote, as well as a few articles. Through the years, various SBC publications have carried my articles including SBC Life, The Baptist Message (the newsjournal of Louisiana Baptists), various Louisiana Baptist Convention publications, and Baptist state newspapers across the nation.
Twice she received the Leonard Holloway Award, the grand prize in feature writing awarded by the Baptist Communicators Association's Wilmer C. Fields Awards Competition.
She has co-authored the book "Lessons from Lewis," a devotional drawn from C. S. Lewis's writings. She was one of four writers for a devotional published by NavPress, and have contributed to three anthologies. Her article “Reepicheep: Signpost to God” was featured on a special webpage prior to the release of the 2010 Walt Disney movie "Voyage of the Dawn Treader" at CBN.com. Also featured that year was my article on C. S. Lewis and the Inklings. At that time, the website drew more than a million hits per day.
Today, she continues to tell others' stories for Baptist Press, the news vehicle for the Southern Baptist Convention. She is focused today on using her writing skills in new ways for Christian apologetics, fiction works and children's stories
